Think the electric car is new technology? Far from it. In 1943 there was already a fleet of electric taxicabs in Spain. When the lead-acid batteries ran low on electric charge, the taxi pulled into the company’s quick-swap station. With the help of a pulley, the battery was removed and replaced by a fully charged one. The old battery was then recharged to be installed in another taxicab later.

Consider that this system was in place before the end of WWII. Imagine how efficient this system would be today if investment in the technology had been made over the past 80 years.

Think electric cars are a new thing? No. We’ve all just fallen for Tesla’s highly effective marketing machine that ‘re-invented’ technology to maximize profits.
