Coming off a podium finish at the last CRKC round at Goodwood, #16 for the Demaras Auto Racing Team was hoping to build some momentum.
The reverse layout at Goodwood proved to be a struggle for Chris Demaras, as his practice times averaged at 30.12 seconds, well off the pace. A quick pep talk from fellow racer Chris Korab-Loskowski before qualifying to “be smooth” helped Demaras set a qualifying time half a second quicker than practice.
Demaras qualified in 4th place, and after a slow start, kept up with the leaders. Driver #16 made an opportunistic passing move at Turn 4, taking 3rd place away from Ian Beckford. Having compromised the entry to the corner to get the pass made killed Demaras’ momentum on the back straight, and all he could do was wave at Beckford as he powered by, regaining his podium position.
Demaras crossed the finish line in 4th place, off the podium, but keeping his points streak alive.
