Canadian athlete Christine de Bruin slid her way to a podium finish in the first-ever Olympic Monobob event, capturing a bronze medal for Canada.

After four runs at the Yanqing Sliding Centre, de Bruin had a total time of 4 minutes 21.03 seconds, putting her behind only the 1.76 seconds behind the gold-medal winning American sleds.

De Bruin’s bronze is a big accomplishment. It is only the fifth ever Olympic medal a Canadian has won in women’s bobsleigh.

Surely the Paul Tracy CART-era tribute livery was part of the formula for success.
