Friday night in Toronto was the official kickoff of the 2022 Gumball 3000 rally. This year’s event travels from Toronto to the Indianapolis 500, before continuing to Nashville, Atlanta and Miami.

With Bay St closed from Bloor to Davenport, the high-end Yorkville area was transformed into a car show. With exotics car brands like Ferrari, Lamborghini and McLaren parked on the street, both petrol-heads and soccer moms bringing their kids back from practice stopped to take a look.

Eagle-eyed spectators noticed some very rare machinery, such as the Alpine A110 (never sold in Canada) plus a classic Ford Mustang and highly-modified VW Beetle.

The vehicles glistened under the streetlights as showers passed quickly. Many headed down to Yonge-Dundas Square where Deadmau5 played music for the crowd. But some stuck around the car show until very late, to see what other unique automobiles might arrive at the last minute.
