The weather in Ottawa took a turn for the worse on Sunday, with heavy rains and strong winds. Lightning strikes in the area delayed the start of Race 2 for nearly an hour. Concern on the faces of the Vallis Motorsport Team was obvious.

When finally called to the grid, the open-wheelers were no match for these conditions. One formation lap, and it was back to the pit lane, where drivers would sit in the pouring rain until track officials declared conditions safe to continue.

Within minutes of the green flag, two cars had crashed out, and another suffered gearbox damage due to the hydroplaning and insanely slippery conditions. There was simply no visibility, and even rain lights could not be seen through the spray. A few green flag laps between long periods under full-course caution, just lapping behind the safety car, made this processional race one to forget.
