From 1970 to 1990, Formula Super Vee was an open-wheel racing series in Europe, North America and South America. The formula was created as an extension of Formula Vee, and it initially used the same Type 3, air-cooled, VW engines, although in a larger 1600cc displacement. However it soon transformed to using the very different and more powerful fuel injected, water-cooled engines from the VW Golf.

Below is an early documentary about Super Vee, and it’s just amazing how modern these cars look today, almost 40 years later.
