After the preliminary events in the ‘SO, YOU WANNA BE A RACE CAR DRIVER?’ were completed, the serious competition began. The winner of the Final would get to drive the No. 12 Formula 1200 car, on display in the lobby of K1 Speed … as if these racers needed any more motivation!
The Last Chance Qualifier was up first. Ten of the top racers from K1 Speed Mississauga and K1 Speed Toronto would battle for the podium positions, as only the top three drivers would advance to the Final. The assembled crowd anticipated a tough fight, and smart racers already locked into the Final watched closely to see who would become their competitor in the next round.
Event organizers listened carefully to competitors concerns, making sure the starting order was correct, and that the race would be clean and fair. The starting order was:

- Taras Michalik
- Jason Fung
- Greg Zetko
- Marshall Crocker
- Daniel Lopez
- Miles McDonald
- Michael Poulin
- Francesco Vigliatore
Jane Wexler from Melanoma Canada waved the green flag to start the race, and fierce battles broke out, especially in the mid field. Bad luck for pole-sitter Trishan Randima as he fell down the order, allowing Oliver Soriano, Taras Michalik and Jason Fung to move up, taking the podium positions and advancing to the Final.
