This weekend, the Demaras family watched the Rolex 24 to see top racers from around the world compete in the twice around the clock endurance race. This year, we had someone special to cheer for; Daniel’s old kart racing coach, James Vance.
A few years before Vance got a ride in NASCAR Pinty’s Series, then started competing regularly in IMSA, he spent part of a season with Professional Racing Ontario, coaching kids in karts. Daniel Demaras was lucky to spend a summer learning from Vance. Whenever our man James is on track, we cheer him on!

The Fast MD team that formerly competed in the Michelin Pilot Challenge series. After selected outings last season, the team will compete full time in the No. 87 FastMD Racing Duqueine D08 in the LMP3 category. At this year’s the 24 Hours of Daytona the team roster was James Vance, Nick Boulle, Yu Kanamaru and local Canadian racer Antonio Serravalle.

The car was running strong, as high as P3 in the category, when disaster struck. The No. 87 was rear-ended by a GT car coming out of a slow corner, causing damage to the Duqueine D08 race car, sending it back to the garage for repairs.
Vance and Co. drove a great race, and made the event extremely exciting to watch as we cheered on our old friend.
