On December 3rd, the Rally Against Hunger food drive helped gather 1,220 lbs in food donations. This was a joint project between Race Lab, Can-Jam Motorsports and Demaras Racing. Today, we received a video message from Neil Hetherington, CEO of the Daily Bread Food Bank, acknowledging our team’s efforts and contribution. We hope we inspired at least one other person to hold such an event.
We were really hoping to get Neil out to the race track to challenge for the podium. But hunger doesn’t take a day off (and the Christmas season is especially busy at the Daily Bread Food Bank). Perhaps next year he’ll challenge our Top 3 racers Chad Webster, Christian Menezes and event champ Nathan Wilkie.
Anyone who thinks that racers would take it easy on Neil during a charity event better think again! Check out how rough the racing was during the preliminary races (thanks to Gord McPherson for the onboard video).
