Superstar Racing Experience (SRX) has closed its doors after three seasons of IROC-style racing
In an announcement that caught many in the racing world off-guard, SRX announced this week it will be ‘postponing’ its fourth season, due to run this summer for six consecutive weeks. Most races on the SRX calendar had already been announced, and there was a strong rumour that the series would visit Canada for a race at Ohsweken Speedway near Hamilton
The series demise comes only days after SRX co-founder Ray Evernham had announced that he and former NASCAR team owner Rob Kauffman had purchased the assets and brand name of the former International Race of Champions (IROC) series, which ran from 1973 through 2006.

IROC featured identically prepared race cars and included some of the top stars from NASCAR, IndyCar, Formula 1 and other series. It was originally conceived in the mid-1970s by Roger Penske and three partners.
SRX replicated some of the original concepts behind IROC, but it remains to be seen whether IROC’s return will be in vintage IROC machinery, of if it this is a power-play by Everenham to take over the SRX series he helped found, just under a different and more recognizable brand name..
I had no idea there was so much drama and intrigue in the world of racing! Very interesting article.
Its is almost as treacherous and conniving as American politics!
