Two-time Indianapolis 500 winner Takuma Sato will return to the Rahal Letterman Lanigan team where his story truly began.
In 2012, Sato almost won “The Greatest Spectacle in Racing” but crashed out on the last lap while trying to take the lead. After stints with AJ Foyt Racing and Andretti Autosport, Sato returned to RLL and finished the job he’d started with the team so many years ago; winning the Indianapolis 500.
Now, thanks to machine tool manufacturer Amada sponsoring him, Sato will return to the RLL team in the No. 75 Honda-powered entry for the in the 108th running of the Indianapolis 500. The livery of the car even looks like a Japanese flag, with the red Amada logo on a white background. The native-son of Tokyo must be pleased.

This will be Sato-san’s third time Racing for Rahal Letterman Lanigan. First in 2012, again between 2018 and 2021, and now again in 2024. Four of his six wins have been in RLL cars, so from a percentage standpoint, don’t bet against fan-favourite Sato on the Memorial Day race.
