Friday, February 9th was the second round of the Canadian F1200 eSports Championship. The racing was just as exciting and chaotic as the first round. And like the first round, Brandon Hawkin is the class of the field. But as the series continues, the field in closing in on him.

There seems to be two distinct groups. The front runners like Zen Car (real name) are hanging with the leader the whole race, and wait to strategically make their moves. Then there’s “the pack” that fights over position to the point of endangering themselves.

Here’s a moment in Race Two where the pack went five cars wide at the end of the Andretti Straight. No way F1200 drivers would go five wide trough a corner. The results could be catastrophic.

Although Hawkin won all three races it was closer than the results indicate, as rival racers skills are improving rapidly. Smart money is on Hawkin for the championship, but by the next round, we’re expecting someone else to steal a win.
