It would be really cool to have a road with my name on it, especially one where people engage in illegal street racing. I want to hear the anchor on 680 NEWS say “Motorists gave police the slip after reports of young people living their lives a quarter mile at a time on Demaras Drive“. I’d even take one of those edge-of-town streets where police don’t even bother stopping the racers, like in ‘American Graffiti‘
I’d be OK with that too. But I’d want there to be a catchy pop song about it with a hook like ‘We gonna rock down to Electric Avenue‘.
Ideally, that number-one hit song would flaunt the fast and furious fashion of Demaras Drive without the negative overtone like Jan and Dean’s 1964 song ‘Won’t come back from Dead Man’s Curve‘.

‘Car Songs’ are sadly missing from Top 40 today. Hey Little Cobra, 409, even Little Red Corvette are classics. I’m going to have to look up recent car songs.
