On Sunday morning, a car crashed into a moose near Algonquin Park. The vehicle then went into the ditch and hit a tree. The occupants were injured, so two ambulances from the Muskoka Paramedic Service were dispatched to help out. Sure enough, one of the ambulances then struck a moose while on the way to the scene!
Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) reported that the crew in the ambulance was not injured, but the vehicle was extensively damaged. The occupants of the vehicle in the original moose crash were taken to a Huntsville hospital.
The OPP has issued warnings to drivers that there’s an increasing number of moose coming out of the forest and walking on public roads, especially in the area around Algonquin Park, as the animals try to escape swarms of insects. Drivers are strongly encouraged to follow speed limits to give enough time to react if a moose wanders onto the road ahead. Such is the life of the Canadian motorist.
