File this one under ‘Before They Were Famous’. Filmed in 1969, this is Oscar-winner Robert De Niro shilling for the American Motors Corporation and their land yacht, the Ambassador.

Hey… a working actor has to pay the bills. But the commercial is just so filled with stereotypes, its almost offensive to the people its marketing to.

  1. I have always admired DeNiro. His charisma just exudes from him. Speaking of “before they were famous,” I was pleasantly surprised to see Robert Duvall show up in a tiny but important role as Boo Radley in To Kill a Mockingbird. Thanks for posting this. Fun to see!

    1. Yeah, I thought this commercial was kind of cool (and of course, car related). You can see some of his gangster characters in the way he yells at the little kid for stepping on the upholstery.

I’ll have to go back to Turner Classic Movies to see when “To Kill a Mockingbird” is on next. I’ll check out Duvall!

  2. “Great find, brother! My wife mentioned that what caught her attention when she first saw me was that I looked just like a young Robert De Niro. So, I can’t help but love the guy.”
