It seems like the police are taking their intolerant clampdown on car culture called Operation Silent Night seriously, or they’re seriously thirsty and putting out click-bait press releases, like the one below. Here’s the latest.

Police issued 42 tickets for bylaw infractions, totaling $38,250 in fines, during an unsanctioned car meet on May 23. The unauthorized event took place at a plaza parking lot at Rutherford Rd and Islington Ave, where about 30 vehicles were observed driving in circles, revving their engines loudly, parking diagonally across numerous parking spots and playing music at excessive volumes. Drivers were observed to be performing stunts and squealing their tires.
Police officers are “diligently patrolling” areas known to be the site of unauthorized rallies since bylaw amendments took effect this spring. The tickets will be issued by mail to the vehicle owners as part of the Operation Silent Night program.
What a joke! Police find a bunch of kids on a Thursday night playing their car stereos loud, revving their engines and God forbid parking diagonally! Instead of sending two cop cars into the parking lot to tell the drivers to cut it out, the cops took pictures of their license plates and will mail tickets to them.

This is all a PR stunt. First off, the police did not even break up the event which they call a danger to public safety. Second, all they did was mail out tickets. No points on the driver’s license. And that’s if the license plate was valid. Suddenly those customized JDM and Euro plates they sell at every car show make sense.
Heaven forbid those rapscallions were parking diagonally. what is this world coming to.
I know, eh Susan? Parking diagonally. I didn’t write that line …. it was right from the press release. But it was so insanely stupid that I had to keep it.
.
Imagine: young people showing off and playing music loud in an empty plaza parking lot. ITS THE END OF CIVILIZATION!
.
What miserable people these politicians must be. These were lovers on high school trying to get back at the cool kids some 30 years later.
So… someone called the police to stop a reckless automotive party, and all the cops didn’t even bother to do their job? All they did was take pictures and mail tickets? Remind me again: why do we pay those lazy cops?
Brother Rubens, I just DO NOT get it.
.
The whole point of Operation Silent Night was to satisfy some miserable old people complaining about kids being loud and having fun.
.
Yet the cops didn’t even stop the noise. Just took pics. I may be turning 50 this year, but I dont understand this modern age. Why didn’t the police go in there, ticket the ones who were actually doing donuts, and break up the party? What is this ticket in the mail bullshit?
.
And this is why I have Japanese plates on my car whenever I’m at a show.
