This weekend is the 44th running of the VARAC Vintage Grand Prix on the Mosport Grand Prix track at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. For racers and fans, this is hallowed ground. The VGP is a world-class celebration of vintage car racing that traces its history to VARAC’s first event, in 1979, at Shannonville Motorsport Park. Four decades later, the VGP has grown to the largest event of its kind in Canada.
Porsche Parade
This year’s ‘feature marque’ is Porsche! Special invitation to all those who drive Porsches (or Porsche powered cars). Categories such as Vintage, Historic, Classic and Modern Classic are available. If you race a Porsche or a Porsche “special” you won’t want to miss this. As the feature marque, there will be a special “All Porsche” race.
Formula Classic
Mark your schedules for the Formula Classic grid. These open-wheel cars range from Formula Junior, Formula Ford, Formula Vee and fan favourites the FORMULA 1200s! There might even be a retired Indy Car and F5000 cars from the iconic series that ran from the 1960’s through the 1990s. The Formula Classic grid showcases great examples of the evolution of race car technology over the last 60 years.
