Back at the track for one final shot at racing glory. The final event of the 2024 Canadian Formula 1200 Championship was the CASC Celebration of Motorsports at historic Mosport, now called Canadian Tire Motorsports Park.

So much effort goes into these race weekends. Team principal Bill from Vallis Motor Sport has been wrenching on the No 12 all season long, trying to get more speed out of the car, but it’s been a puzzle. He’s built race winning cars for decades, including Demaras’ 2023 championship winning ride. It’s tough seeing such a struggle.
Take a look at the 12 minute mark in the video above, and you’ll see the smoke coming out the front left brake.
These F1200s use drum brakes, and the shoes were pressing against the drum absolutely killing speed, and creating so much heat that it began to smoke. No fire or anything, but Demaras had to get off track to address the problem.

That’s been the story of the season. As new go-fast parts have been added (lust look at that 3D printed cooling duct) other gremlins emerged. But the driving is clean, and the effort has never been in question.
With the No. 12 Can-Jam Motorsports F1200 car qualifying only 5th, Demaras would have to make up a lot of positions in the opening race of the weekend on Saturday afternoon.

Check back tomorrow for more racing action from the 2024 CASC Celebration of Motorsports…
You guys have worked so hard this season! Hoping things get clarified on why the engine isn’t as rough and tough as it needs to be.
When the brakes started smoking (no fire) while driving in a straight line, it showed a issue. Brakes remained on without the brake pedal being applied. That certainly killed some speed.
.
Maybe the frame is bent. Who knows why the car wasn’t good this year.
I don’t know either but I’m all in favor of you guys figuring it out. How would you determine if the frame is bent?
Well, the car has to be stripped down to the frame. Body off, engine out, etc. The place it on a frame table and use layers and tape measures to check if it’s straight and square.
.
Like hanging a series of photos on a wall. They may all be in a line, but the line may be on an angle.
The more you know! As with most things I learn from you, I had no idea!
It’s like a different world.
A little world within the bigger world.
Chris! Have you seen this ad?

I think it is a great ad and represents what I see in demaras racing.
Golly…I don’t know what to think about this one. Those are top-tier guys in that ‘Unstoppable Dreams’ video. We’re just a dad-and-lad team trying to make a go of motor racing. Methinks we gots an idea…stay tuned.
