Designed specifically for ‘new’ Ice Racers, the CASC has announced the “Street CUP” Studded Tire Group for the 2025 Ice Racing season at the Minden Fairgrounds.

The underlying concept is to attract new competitors to the sport of ice racing using cars with minimal modifications. Theoretically, someone could drive their car to the track, swap their tires, for studded snow tires, and race.

This will be a non-contact run group, while still recognizing that the cars are driving on ice! But contact will be penalized at the discretion of the Series Director or the Clerk. The goal of the CASC is to expose more racers to the sport, not scare them off!

No racing on “frozen” lakes.
  • The rules to be a work in progress based on track experiences, but here are some of the most important rules to start:
    • Minimally prepared cars for ice racing (a fully prepped ice racer may not run with this group)
    • This is a studded tire series, so MOT approved pre-studded tires only.
    • Maximum engine sizes apply – FWD & 4WD up to 4.0 L, RWD up to 5.0 L,
    • Cars are restricted to uni-body style only, no full-frame vehicles allowed
    • Tow hooks are recommended front and rear.
    • Original equipment seat belts will be used.
    • Helmets are required for drivers and passengers
    • Driver eligibility is a valid driver’s license and CASC-OR Class C or ‘temporary’ license.
    • Staggered start to reduce “bunch up” in Turn 1 at the start of the race.

There will be a pool of rental cars available for people that want to try ice racing – making it as easy as possible to give ice racing a try! If interested in running in the new StreetCUP series, please contact CASC for more details.

Ice racings starts January 25 2025. Are you ready?
