Every car meet since October has billed itself as the ‘season closer‘ but A1 AutoClub’s pop-up meet in the west end might really be the end of the 2024 season. Expect to see only ‘winter beaters’? Nope.

It was an unseasonably warm 7°C and one BMW convertible even had the top down. Some gearheads have already put away their summer cars, so the car meet was mostly all-wheel-drive cars like the Audi A7, Lexus IS250 and Subaru WRX.

While this wasn’t a Christmas Car Meet, the illuminated GMC Christmas Truck was there. The rolling light show was taken ‘over the top’ with the addition of an 8′ inflatable Santa Claus in the truck bed.

Rolling into the meet with the windows down and Run DMC’s 1987 old-school track ‘Christmas in Hollis‘ bumping out the subwoofers was the epitome of Christmas cool. Below is the video, which could not be uploaded to YouTube due to copyright silliness.

To truly steal the show, a makeshift bar was set up on the tailgate of the truck, serving eggnog (with Jamaican rum) plus gingerbread cookies for any gearheads who stopped by to check out the monster truck. Even some new friends from LoudNf4st stepped away from their Audi RS7 for a bit to share in the Christmas cheer.

The event was pretty tame, with only a handful of guys popping off their exhausts, but for the most part it was a chill ending to the 2024 car show season. Looking forward to 2025 now!

    1. Hey, I just wanna have fun. Cars are an interest of mine, and I just try to find a way to incorporate that into seasonal celebrations, family fun things, etc.
      .
But I should mention that a lot of those kids at the car meet were giving me the ‘Is he a cop?’ look. Except the LoudNf4st guys who hung out and drank eggnog with us.

      1. Ha. If they only knew how much you are not a cop! Cops don’t just wanna have fun. And you do a superb job relating your interest to many aspects of life.

      2. Yeah… and cops don’t bring airplane bottles of Jamaican rum to a car meet.
        .
That was definitely the last show of the year, but tonight, I’m going to strap a box of fireworks to the bed of the truck and drive down my block putting on the final lights show.
        .
Then tomorrow, all the Christmas lights come off the GMC.

    1. Wow… that guy has me down pat. There’s something about driving a massive truck that gives you a sense of power… and mercy. I am super nice to those drivers that deserve it. Because I, yes I, used to drive a 1979 Mini Cooper. It was so small I could reach my arms out both side windows at the same time. And I feared death driving that car. I knew is there was an accident with my tinfoil doors, I would lose.
      .
So now that I’m the big guy, I give little cars plenty of space.
      .
P.S. I had to ask my kids what a venti half-caf espresso caramel macchiato with extra foam was. I drink my coffee black, the way Juan Valdez intended.

      1. You drove a mini cooper omg. I kind of envy the size of your truck because I think I would feel a little bigger and more powerful. But of course we would go for a Tundra or a Tacoma. But yes, I did think that post “got” you. I also can’t with the fancy drinks with half this and half that. But I admit I am super weird because my coffee is black but I add collagen peptides and a special fiber fuel powder. Or should I say, Greg adds that as he makes my coffee every morning. Coffee to me is a carrier fuel for my important powders. 😂 Happy New Year, Chris!

      2. Funny, because.to me.they look so similar. Black on black. Silber wheels. Tinted windows. I think the youngsters call that ‘murdered out’ which I always liked.
        .
        Black on black with black.

      3. Well, after all, you *are* younger than me by about a decade so you are closer to the humans who use the phrase “murdered out.” Just goes to show your preferences have stayed consistent over time.
