It’s getting tougher to find a spot for a ‘park & chill” car meet on the weekends. Amped up gearheads doing high-speed ‘runs’ on the neighbouring streets is a sure fire way to burn a spot. Despite the massive crowd that showed up at the Tim’s on Britannia Rd at Terry Fox Way , everything went very smoothly.

On the drive into the car meet, the police presence was noted. But the unmarked cruisers just waited by the exits for shenanigans that never occurred. Event organizers did a great job keeping everyone in check. They didn’t kick up a fuss if someone revved their engine for a minute, or let the crowd hear the new blow-off valve. But anyone doing a burnout was simply asked to leave, as this wasn’t in the spirit of the meet.
Just looking at some of the cars at the meet showed this was a more diverse group that just clapped out Honda Civics with straight-pipe exhausts. A white Lamborghini got lots of attention, as did the vintage Rolls-Royce and a brand new Bentley. High-dollar daily drivers like Mercedes, BMW and Audi were well represented.

As the racing season quickly approached, some guys are getting their street-legal race cars out of storage. An ’06 Subaru WRX STi that usually competes in CSCS Time Attack gathered a crowd around it all night. Despite being one of the fastest modified cars at the meet, the driver knows he’s a rolling billboard and kept it under the speed limit at all times.

With over 500 cars in attendance, there was something for everyone including a mint condition Honda S2000, a pink Toyota Supra drift car, and a mint-green wrapped Honda Civic. Underglow has become popular again on Lexus and Infiniti models, and the LEDs are so much better than the old-school fluorescent lights originally used back the 90s.

Demaras Racing’s prized ’92 Subaru SVX was the only car of its kind at the meet. Some of the younger car enthusiasts had never even seen one of these on the road before, only in ‘Forza Motorsport‘ series of video games. With an estimated 50 of these SVXs left in Canada today, this is the only one cruising around the car shows on air-suspension.

Oddly enough, the only commotion at the show was from a middle-aged lawyer in his expensive European car who insisted on revving his engine right next to the police, then defying them to ticket him with a petty ‘Do you know who I am?!‘ that seemed childish even to the teenagers.
Overall another great car-meet organized by O.C.S. and TerryTims_2.0 that remained chill until it was time to hit the road.
