For those who grew up in the 1980s and 1990s the Ford Mustang was the king of the streets. High-school Ceasars drove them because they were fast, cheap, and could be modified into dragstrip demons thanks to the large aftermarket of go-fast parts. Mustangs from 1979 to 1993 were built on Ford’s ‘Fox Chassis’ which was shared with the Ford Thunderbird, Mercury Cougar and Lincoln Continental Mark VII.
Ford Motor Company is banking on middle-aged dads who grew up in that ‘Fox Body‘ era now having some disposable income and space in the garage for a cool car with a factory warranty. The 2026 Ford Mustang FX package triggers nostalgia of the Mustang that defined an era.
Remastered features like teal paint, white wheels and badges, retro ‘Mustang’ lettering, plus a plaid interior make up the appearance package on premium Mustang GT models in both coupe and convertible. Ford has named the 1990s era teal paint ‘Adriatic Blue Metallic’ which definitely sounds like an extra cost option, but pricing has yet to be released.
Quite simply, this is a rad teal boulevard beast that would smoke any 5.0 (or SVX) from back in the day. And what could be more Fox-body-era than that?
