Police Guilty of Highway Hypocrisy

There’s a cop in Florida who doesn’t believe the law applies to him.

Sheriff Carmine Marceno has tried to make a name for himself in Lee County as being tough on street racing. Earlier this year, the Sheriff even publicly shamed an 18-year-old speeder by posting his picture and video of the arrest on social media. So much for due process!

This hypocrite publicly preaches abhorrence for street racing, but investigative reporters in Florida found video of the Sheriff street racing his Lamborghini against a Corvette on a public highway. Apparently ‘zero tolerance’ does not apply to the Sheriff. The video shows Sheriff Marceno driving south on six-lane South Tamiami Trail in a black Lamborghini Huracan (how can a cop afford that!) while racing against his friend Ken Romano, a Florida jeweler, in a black Corvette.

The race is brief, but a glimpse at the speedometer showed the cars roared to 74 MPH (limit is 50 MPH) which is exactly the kind of behaviour the police would pull over any motorist for. A man with such poor judgement doesn’t deserve to hold public office.
