Fan Friday, Free Friday call it whatever you like. The Honda Dealers on Ontario sponsor the Friday practice session at the Indy Toronto so everyone gets in at no charge. Sure, it’s not race day, just a practice day, but it’s still a lot of fun.

The driver autograph session is a chance for fans to meet their racing heroes. Michelle brought Will Power a set of LED drumsticks, as he’s an avid drummer. He was so surprised at the gift, he gave the crowd a littl table top drum solo.
The 1 hour 20 minute practice session started in the late afternoon, giving everyone a chance to grab some good seats (remember, seats are free on Friday). As the track rubbered-in, lap times began to get quicker as the cars went faster. Fan favourite Will Power topped the combined 1st Practice session with a 1:01.8 lap.

The local Toronto government just couldn’t resist showing off their latest construction project, and had the construction vehicles trundling around Ontario Place kicking up an awful lot of dust and dirt.
All in all, a great day. Weather was warm, but not oppressively hot as it’s been in Toronto for weeks. The IndyCars were on track testing the limits of grip as the crowd watched and cheered. When it was over, no long faces because we’d get a chance to enjoy it all again as IndyCar qualifying kicks off.
