Yesterday, a press release confirmed that Will Power’s seventeen-year career as a Team Penske driver were over. At 44-years-old, was Power really past his sell-by date? Nope!

Today, Will Power announced he’s signed for Andretti Global to race for its IndyCar team in 2026 and beyond. Power will drive the No. 26 Andretti-Honda, which until now, was piloted by American racer Colton Herta.

Today, Colton Herta was announced as the official Test Driver for the new Cadillac Formula 1 Team. It seems 25-year-old Herta’s dreams are coming true; a path to Formula 1.

TWG Motorsports, the parent company of both the Andretti Global IndyCar team and the Cadillac Formula 1 Team, announced last week that Sergio Perez and Valtteri Bottas would drive for the F1 team in its inaugural season. Today’s Herta announcement opened up a top-tier sear for Will Power to hop into.

Colton Herta will spend next year running free-practice sessions at grand prix weekends, and is reportedly signing with a junior team to race in Formula 2. This will keep him race-ready and give him experience on the European circuits. By the time he starts his first race in F1, he’ll be ready.

It is interesting to note that there are no Formula 2 races in the month of May, leaving the door open for Herta to race in the 2026 Indy 500 with Andretti Global, as teammate to Will Power, the man who replaced him!
