Tomorrow evening—Sunday March 1st 2026—Demaras Racing is hosting a private screening of ‘Furious 7” at the Film.ca Cinemas in Oakville; the seventh installment in our Fast Film Fest since late October last year. It’s also the final movie Paul Walker filmed before his untimely passing at the age of 40. During a break from shooting ‘Furious 7‘ on November 30 2013, Paul Walker was a passenger in a Porsche Carrera GT that was involved in a single-car crash in Santa Clarita, California.

After a significant break from filming to mourn his passing, the team decided not to abandon the movie. The third act of the movie originally going have the ‘fast family’ officially become government agents, continuing their international escapades. A big action adventures scene would wrap the street-racing stuff and start the new spy movie era. Instead, they used the final act to say goodbye to a man who’s life had a big impact on others.
After the climax of the movie, Brian and Mia are seen from a distance, playing on a beach with their young child. The character of Brian was played by Paul’s brothers Caleb and Cody (plus some CGI) and it’s made clear that Officer Brian O’Conner has retired from his life of adventure to raise a family.
The final scene—the last ride—has Dom driving along a lonely road in his Charger. While stopped at an intersection, seemingly lost, Brian pulls up next to him in a Toyota Supra. With a genuine look of surprise, Dom looks over at Brian, who says “Hey, you thought you could just leave without saying good-bye?”
The two friends drive side-by-side until the road splits and each carries on alone. It’s interesting to note Brian’s car is a 1993 Toyota Supra, like the iconic orange car he drove in the first F&F movie, which he gave to Dom to escape the cops. But the car is now painted heavenly white.

It would be too easy to trivialize Paul Walker as just a pretty-boy actor who made street racing movies that promoted car culture. He meat a lot more to a lot of people.
In 2010 he founded a charity called Reach Out WorldWide whose mission was to help recovery efforts after natural disasters anywhere in the world. He set up a group of skilled and determined individuals that could be deployed to California to help fight wildfires, or Jamaica to assist with hurricane recover efforts.

For people of a certain generation, that talking red car Lightning McQueen, or that orange Toyota Supra that Paul Walker drove in “The Fast and The Furious” are main reasons that they got into cars. So it seems fitting that the proceeds from the Fast Film Fest should go full circle, to the charity organization that Paul Walker started.
If anyone in the Toronto area is interested, the movie is 7:00 pm tomorrow night in Oakville. Just click on the Events page on this website to be added to the guest list.
