In the Demaras Racing stable is a 1992 Subaru with custom graphics and air-suspension that we call the Synthwave SVX. It’s a pretty unique vehicle; there certainly isn’t another one in the world that looks like it. Some gearheads have gone furniture, like an SVX owner in the UK who hand-crafted wider fenders, and a another in the US with wild paint and a custom body kit. Cool cars no doubt.

But this ‘Widebody SVX’ recently photographed at the Tsukuba Circuit Shimotsuma, Japan (the ‘holy land’ for time attack in Japan) is beyond anything we’ve ever seen.

Massive over-fenders, a custom front bumper, splitter, dive-planes and a roof height spoiler change the proportions of the car completely. There’s a set of louvers on the hood to provide cooling for the new engine. The original 3.3L flat-six is gone, replaced with a RB26DETT engine, twin-turbo inline-six Nissan engine used in the legendary 1989-2002 Nissan Skyline GT-R.

The images appeared on the SpecialThrill IG page last week. Not much extra information about the car. Clearly there’s a six-speed manual transmission backing up that Nissan RB26 engine, But hopefully video emerges of this special vehicle on track.
