On Sunday, the IndyCar Series ran their first ever event in Washington DC. It was a street race held on the National Mall as part of the celebrations for the 250th anniversary of the United States. American driver Kyle Kirkwood took the win, and on the podium with him was his Andretti Autosport teammate Will Power in P3.
In an interview after the race, Power commented how surreal it was for a guy from a small town in Australia to end up meeting the president of the United States, then race around DC in an IndyCar. Power wonders out loud whether he’ll end up getting his picture in the Towoomba Chronicle.
What a laugh!
Power is a two-time IndyCar series champion, and an Indy 500 winner. But he ‘s still interested whether the local paper in his home town of 185,000 people will print his picture.
