American stock-car series NASCAR had its heyday between 1980 and 2000 when it was at peak popularity. Smack dab in the middle came the release of Tom Cruise’s racing movie ‘Days of Thunder‘ in 1990. While some in the NASCAR community resented the image of stock cars being built in barns, the movie was a hit with the public.

Now that acclaimed producer Jerry Bruckheimer had success with ‘F1: The Movie‘ —the biggest theatrical hit in Apple’s movie history— it’s back to the barn for ‘Days of Thunder 2‘!
This weekend, Tom Cruise was at Daytona International Speedway for NASCAR’s final regular season race. Before the big race, he made the even bigger announcement that ‘Days of Thunder 2‘ would be in theatres on June 2, 2028—just 10 weeks after ‘Fast Forever‘ is theatrically released.
Rumours are swirling that Brad Pitt will reprise his role as Sonny Hayes from ‘F1: The Movie‘ as a character in Tom Cruise’s ‘Days of Thunder 2‘ which would automatically make the upcoming film a contender for the title of greatest racing movie in history.
