The final weekend of the 2026 Enduro Elite Series at CTMP, 15 hours of racing over two days, with crucial wins on the line and championships to be decided.
The DriveTeq #822 entered the weekend 3rd in the GT1 championship, needing a nearly perfect two races to come out on top.
It was Porsche vs BMW in the early stages, the two Driveteq cars racing the #70 Porsche 944 and #78 Porsche 911 at the front of the field.
A red flag interrupted the battle, but there remained fierce competition between the cars, punctuated with swings in performance and penalties.
When my turn came, a strong penultimate stint put us in touching distance of the leading Porsche 944, my task being to make the pass for the win.
After a few laps I caught up to the back of the leader, but struggled to find a part of the track where we were quicker, and could make an overtake stick. The BMW may be more agile through the turns, but lacks the outright top end speed. However, that agility gave us a boost when dealing with traffic, and I made my way around the Porsche while coming up on lapped cars.
A few minutes later, I found myself stuck behind an Acura which just seemed to have pace in the most inconvenient places, and this hold up saw the 944 take the lead back from me.
I followed it past the Acura and set off to regain the lead. However, a snap in turn 9 for the leader handed the position to me, and with that, it was smooth sailing to the checkered flag. A third GT1 win of the season and a crucial ten points, moving us just 4 behind the championship lead.
Saturday was a testament to DriveTeq’s ability to put together a proper endurance setup.
The car remained consistent from beginning to end, we avoided the issues that have a habit of coming up when the equipment is pushed to the test, and came out victorious in a proper battle for the win.
