Briggs & Stratton are amazing. From karts to junior dragsters, back to the 1919 Flyer, this company has shown creativity from the very beginning. But few people even know that decades before the pathetic Prius, Briggs & Stratton developed a hybrid concept car…on six wheels!
The vehicle used a six-wheeled chassis from Marathon Electric Vehicles of Quebec to carry the thousands of pounds of batteries, a Borg Warner dual clutch, VW windshield (and other exterior pieces) to create a very 80’s Mustang looking vehicle. Briggs combined their new two-cylinder, air cooled gas engine with an electric motor to boost output from a lowly 18hp.
