At last week’s CRKC event, Chris qualified 3rd, and was set for a podium finish. But as veteran racer Tim put a move on Demaras at turn 8, Chris just couldn’t let it go. He saw red. He felt the ‘toad rage’ take control, and punted his competitor off the track…getting himself stuck in the sand. This week would be different.
Chris focused on his racing, paying attention to his lap times, and the changing conditions. He studies his opponents’ weak points and repeatedly attempted clean passes. No way he was Race Marshal Brian going to penalize him this week.
Chris crossed the finish line in 4th (up one position from qualifying) and protested with race officials to penalize the driver in front of him for tire scrubbing, forbidden in the CRKC. No dice. No podium.
Daniel, on the other hand, had a great time! No pressure, no stress.
Old pal Matte came by to “…give Daniel his daily kick…” which seems like a good luck ritual between the two young racers. Matte was at the track to support his sister Francesca, who would end up qualifying in P2, one step behind Demaras’ pole position qualifying.
Between sessions, Daniel, Ryan, Julian, and the regular CRKC teens joked and laughed. No pressure. Completely different than a TRAK race where everyone is serious, and there’s no fooling around.
Daniel got his win and shared the podium with Elisha and Francesca. All smiles to end the fun and friendly regular season.
On to the playoffs.
