Robert DeNiro (Taxi Driver, 1976) and John Boyega (The Force Awakens, 2015) are set to star in a new movie as Formula 1 drivers. Titled The Formula, the film will star Boyega as a young racing star from Detroit whose mentor, a former F1 driver played by DeNiro, has mob connections. Plot twist! Boyega’s race car driving character is forced to become a getaway driver to save his family.
Rumors that the movie would be The Lewis Hamilton Story with DeNiro cast as Ron Dennis (former McLaren F1 team principal) and Boyega as Sir Lewis were unfounded.
