Crappy Citroën C1

Careful What You Wish For

Heading to Europe for summer vacation, I had a vision of myself driving a tiny French and playing rally driver on the country roads.

But the 2CV hasn’t been a round in a long time, so I selected the diminutive Citroen C1. Compact, stylish, very French. And I was really looking forward to the 5-Speed transmission paired up with 1.0L of French fury. But the clutch was all worn out, and there was no tachometer. I couldn’t believe a rental had 79,000 km on it!

Driving around town, I was surprised to see a lot of American cars. My father-in-law Benno even stopped to pose with this 1966 Ford Mustang we found cruising around a small town in Denmark.

The Citroen was just background to this automotive classic, and losing it’s French flair…fast. Looks like another trip back to see Morten at the AVIS Car Rental to select something better.
