Late night TV talk shows had a ‘golden era’ when David Letterman (co-owner of IndyCar team Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing) was on the air. Letterman would regularly have F1 and IndyCar racers on his show, and each year would interview the Indianapolis 500 winner.

The ‘Tonight Show’ host Jimmy Fallon has sort of taken up the cause for race fans. Last week, when Ford announced their return to F1 after 20 years, Fallon promoted the announcement by having Jim Farley, Ford CEO, on his show to discuss Ford partnering with Red Bull Racing in 2026.

Then Fallon took it a step further by jumping into the electric karts at RPM in New Jersey to race a lap against Jim Farley…and Red Bull Racing’s Sergio ‘Checo’ Perez!

It’s a fun and funny video of Jimmy making a fool of himself in a skin-tight blue spandex suit, and magnanimous Checo letting Jimmy win to claim the title of ‘champion’.
