For Daniel’s birthday, his younger sister Michelle hand-illustrated a birthday card, and got him a very special gift. On the envelope was a depiction of Daniel —looking like a Dr. Seuss character— sniffing out his birthday cake, while Nico the cat impatiently waited to be let outside.
The gift was a really cool, KitKat F1 car!
Thanks to Cadillac Formula 1 Team driver Sergio Perez bringing KitKat into the sponsorship family in Formula 1, KitKat is now the ‘Official Chocolate Bar’ of F1. There’s no real evidence that ‘Checo‘ personally brokered the global sponsorship deal, but he was KitKat’s foothold in F1 before the official championship partnership existed.
It’s such a cool tin, the kid of thing that people hold on to years after the product is consumed. Like the bottle of grappa from Mazzetti d’Altavilla that Santa brought down Demaras Racing HQ’s chimney back in 2021. Years after the team got drunk in it, the bottle has a special case it’s stored in for display purposes.
The tin box contained two ‘chunky’ KitKat bars manufactured in Sofia, Bulgaria. These are pretty realdily available at any convenience store in Toronto.
Interestingly, the actual chocolate car KitKat bar version of this tin is manufactured in Perugia, Italy.
