Two weeks ago, the CASC-OR held its annual general meeting and members of Demaras Racing listened in to the virtual meeting. We’re hoping to compete in a round of Ice Racing this winter, so it was important to know about new developments in the discipline.

Imagine our surprise when our old friend Scott Fletcher was announced as the new Director of Karting replacing the outgoing Robin Buck (who’s two-year term was up).

An article published on Inside Track website describes Fletcher as:

A second-generation active racer, comes to the organization with a wealth of experience in motorsports, as well as previous experience on the board of multiple racing clubs, which will serve well for CASC-OR moving forward…Fletcher’s resume in racing spans more than 40 years, from karts to cars, from clubs to NASCAR; CASC-OR Karting is in great hands.

“After my stock car career, I got my kids involved racing karts and truly love the sport of karting. The friends/family involved in karting drives me to help grow this sport for everyone involved.”
– Scott Fletcher, CASC Karting Director

The Ontario karting community will see Scott’s influence quickly implemented, with several new initiatives and social communication, some of which are in place. CASC-OR Karting 2024 initiatives and responsibilities:

  • CASC-OR Karting will post all affiliated Clubs/Tracks Schedules.
  • CASC-OR Karting will introduce a provincial class ranking for all classes.
  • CASC-OR Karting will introduce a weekly podcast.
  • Sponsored classes that will receive prizes.
  • CASC-OR Karting/ASN Members will have a member package.

  • Continue with track Inspections.
  • Provide insurance through CASC-OR provider for affiliated clubs/tracks.

Scott Fletcher was one of the first people we met when Daniel moved up to club racing back in 2017. We’d joined Treadwell’s VRS team, and Daniel was a rookie in Briggs Jr. But Daniel was lucky enough to have Scott’s son Keidon as his teammate. Despite being the boys being the same age, Keidon had already won the Bear Hunt at Shannonville. He was experienced!

Scott was a knowledgeable guy, quick to lend a hand, and even quicker with a punchline. It was great spending that first year with him. We’d like to wish Mr. Fletcher the best of luck in his challenging new role at the CASC.
