We at Demaras Racing are the first to criticize the civic cash grab known as the Automatic Speed Enforcement camera. It’s pathetic to hear local officials pretend that the unofficial road tax is supposed to enhance public safety. It’s only through police patrols that roads become safer.
Think for a moment that with an ASE camera, the owner of the car would only receive a fine. No licence suspension for this 18-year-old.
The excuse this mad motorist gave the cops for their excessive speeding is as stupid as it is comical. But what isn’t funny is that without police patrols, this driver’s mom would have gotten a big ticket in the mail weeks later. It’s good that the cops pulled this guy off the road. He’s a menace!

It’s unlikely that this GMC towing a trailer could even break the speed limit. But it’s a good thing OPP stopped this maniac who strapped a dolly to his trailer, in place of a rear wheel. This is the kind of behaviour that could kill another motorist, but is completely ignored by speed cameras.
Cameras that automatically ticket drivers for going 10 km/h over on a Scarborough street with an unrealistically low speed limit … that’s a scam. What this province needs is proper enforcement by police, not cameras.
