Yesterday was the first / last big snowstorm of winter in Toronto. It was a green Christmas, for sure, and all the winter driving events got cancelled this season. So with the X-Ice snow tires still on the Subaru, it was the perfect day to take the car out for a spin.
Toronto is a pretty dense, built up city. But within the city limits is the Rouge River and some green space around it. There’s a curvy road tracing the river, and a couple of one-lane bridges that cross it. It feels like driving a rally stage, because putting a tire off would mean serious problems.
So, with the GoPro on the dashboard and a microphone duct-taped to the rear bumper, we made multiple passes across Old Finch Ave and its haunted bridge
We made the same video in autumn with lush red leaves still on the trees, but that time it was in the drop-top Miata. Kind of interesting to see how different the Old Finch Bridge area looks in a different season.

Have only watched the first one so far. 1. Thank you for the ride. You are a good driver. 2. After the first bridge, were you in a different county? The roads had absolutely no snow on them once you crossed the bridge.
Third vid. WOW those colors are vibrant. So I tend to be a very conservative driver but if I were behind the wheel of that car, I’d probably drive like the wind. Of the three camera angles, that third one where i’m standing on the trunk holding the camera is pretty cool. The Gopro on the dash is my fave. That’s what you used on the first one I watched.
Another winner from Demaras Racing!
I’m glad you enjoyed the videos!

The GoPro on the front windshield gives the best view of the road, for sure. I tried turning up the frame rate (from 24 to 30 then to 60 frames per second) to make it look like Im going faster.
.
I also attached the camera to the inside of the rear window to show the driver. The fish eye lens makes everything out the side windows look so fast, even though Im going the speed limit.
.
Camera outside in the snow (on the hood) did not work. After 15 seconds it was just a blurry mess.
.
I liked returning to the same spot in different seasons to see how much the route changed.
.
I hadn’t noticed the snow was gone after the bridge. I was so worried Id wreck the car on Friday (with the camera running) that I just took it so slow and easy.
The autumn drive was incredible; I loved it. Drop tops are the best; it feels like you are riding a bike but with all the convenience of a car.
