Ruby’s Autodiner just outside of Laguna Beach, California, is a 1940’s style diner right on the Pacific Coast Highway. It’s a big art-deco building that’s painted white inside and out and it’s just so stylistically clean. Whether you want a cushy counter stool or a big red vinyl booth, there’s always a spot with an ocean view.
Every time there’s a big race in California, our family has visited Ruby’s. The place is just filled with milkshake memories of road trips to Laguna Beach, then heading back to the hotel in L.A. It’s hard not to be nostalgic about a place like this
There are always four classic cars parked in front of the diner like automotive art. And every Friday from April ’till October is the unofficial cruise night where the parking lot fills up with vintage vehicles and retro rides.
This place didn’t become a favourite because of the tasty burgers, American-sized portions or the second half of the milkshake served in the metal cup. Ruby’s Autodiner is a time-warp back to the days before the drive-through window. And for our family, it’s got great memories of our last stop back from a day at the beach.
