Robert Kubica was a rising star in Formula 1. He’d raced from 2006 to 2011 for BMW Sauber and Renault, but the rumor at the time was that Ferrari had chosen him to race for the Scuderia. Then in 2011 a horrifying rally accident severely damaged Kubica’s arm and nearly ended Kubica career. Robert returned to Formula 1 in 2019 with Williams, but never got the chance to race with the red team.
Now Kubica races a Ferrari 499P Hypercar for AF Corse, a privately-run World Endurance Championship team. While Poland’s greatest racer never did get to race for Ferrari in Formula 1, Robert Kubica and his teammates Ye Yifei (Japan) and Robert Shwartzman (Israel) just won the Lone Star Le Mans in Texas, bringing Kubica’s story full circle.
A few hours before Ferrari-powered driver Kubica’s victory at Circuit of the Americas on Sunday evening, Ferrari F1 pilot Charles Leclerc took an unlikely win in the Italian Grand Prix in front of adoring and enthusiastic fans. For Ferrari, the day was quite historic as they become the first team in history to take wins in two separate FIA sanctioned World Championships events on the same day.
The podium at Monza is one of the most incredible sights in motorsports, as fans fill the race track following the race. The winning driver is raised to god-like stature on a platform high above the Tifosi. Leclerc was fortunate enough to win the Italian Grand Prix in 2019 and in his port-race interviews said the second time was just as special as the first.

It’s just so sad that with the terrible, horrible, no-good, very bad Lewis Hamilton joining Scuderia Ferrari in 2025 we won’t be able to cheer at moments like this next year.
