Despite the fact that neither Noel Gallagher nor Liam Gallagher have driver’s licenses, the brothers from Oasis seems to be trying to out-do each other with their odd-ball British luxury cars. For example, this is Liam’s 1978 Bristol Type 603. It was built by the former aircraft manufacturer and was equipped with a 318 cubic inch Chrysler V8 . Where the car is now remains a mystery.

Flush with cash from the success of the band’s early albums, Noel Gallagher decided to get a 1967 Jaguar MK2 (the same year he was born) even though he could not drive. The car is a £100,000 British hot rod from builder Vicarage; a convertible conversion with a big engine. The car was in Noel’s possession for 20 years, rarely driven, and finally sold in 2022 for £120,000 which seems like a pretty bad investment.

The biggest connection between Oasis and automobiles has to be the cover of their 1997 album ‘Be Here Now’ which the band hired Michael Spencer Jones to shoot. The photographer sourced a 1972 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow, which had already been stripped of its engine, transmission, and other valuable parts. The car was given a fresh coat of white paint and a new grille before being submerged into the swimming pool of a 17th century manor. Pure rock n roll excess.

Who knew?!
Not me!
.
Can you imagine having so much money that you buy cars even though you can’t drive? I’m not making a philosophical comment about the inequality of wealth in the western world … just that it’s fricken bonkers that anyone could have that much cash that they’d buy a Jag as a piece of ‘kinetic artwork’
right?!
Right!
