At this weekend’s Brazilian Grand Prix, F1 driver Lewis Hamilton got to lap the circuit in the McLaren MP4/5B driven by his childhood hero, Ayrton Senna.

Regular readers of http://www.DEMARAS.com know that Lewis Hamilton is our least favourite driver on the grid. But the Brazilian fans seemed to like it. Even Ayrton’s sister Viviane Senna was there to mark the special moment.

Why Lewis? Why not let a Brazilian driver take the car on track? Or let Lando do it; he’s a current McLaren driver for Pete’s sake!
So many inexplicable choices are made by people. That may be a veiled reference to recent events in the good ol US of A.
The Sauber F1 team just signed 20-year-old Brazilian rookie Gabriel Bortoleto to drive for their team in 2025. It’ll be the first Brazilian on the F1 grid since the retirement of Felipe Massa in 2017.
.
They shoulda let Bortoleto drive the national hero’s car …not Hamilton!
I totally agree. I’ve heard it said “them that has, gets.” Hamilton is probably a beneficiary of that truism.
