Winter in Toronto isn’t an ideal time for gearheads. So, when TC Automotive tried to organize a car meet in an underground parking lot, a big turnout wasn’t expected. Obviously, nobody’s taking their summer car out of storage for a February pop-up meet, but a similar underground location worked well at the ‘SupernovaHK‘ event last week.

Even the weatherman’s warning of 20 cm of snow on Saturday night wasn’t keeping keep hardcore motorists home. Cars that showed up for the York Region meet included a Subaru Crosstrek, a Toyota 4Runner and an NC Mazda Miata with snow tires. And one black GMC truck named ‘Black Magic‘.
The journey to the car meet was the best part of the night. With a big V8 engine, massive tires and a driver with no fear, the Demaras Racing monster truck won the stoplight drag races all across Toronto. It was almost as much fun as taking it out on the race track last year, but with better results!

After such a fun evening, we’re really looking forward to the next big Saturday night snow storm!
That’s awesome that you’re not letting snow stop you! And yay to winning all the stoplight drag races lol, best feeling ever!
I know that the rest of Canada looks at people in Toronto as limp-wristed weaklings. But there are some hearty ones too.
.
What’s the point of driving a lifted 4WD monster truck if you ain’t gonna go out in a snow storm! I was a little disappointed in the turnout at the car meet, but actually winning stoplight races for a change felt good.
Looks cold. Like Marie Antoinette said, “Let them eat snow!” You get to have your snow and drive in it too.
Temperatures weren’t too bad. Maybe -2°C so just cold enough to prevent the snow from melting. But not so cold that you had to stay inside.
.
Plus, we rarely get 20 cm of snow at once (that was the biggest snowfall in Toronto in 3 years, apparently) so I didn’t want to miss the chance to do parking lot donut and such.
When I was a teenager and we got 92 CM of snow one year, I had a blast tearing up the snow on my motocross bike.
Whoa… I have never seen that much snow in one helping. Must have paralyzed the city (except those with motocross bikes).
It probably did, considering a couple of inches of snow paralyzes the city these days.
I was going to say “…motocross bikes and snowmobiles…” but I guess there are no Skidoo in N.M.
