Racing in a new series is a serious challenge. Last year, Demaras Racing posted an article about the new-for-2024 series called the Miata Canada Cup. Similar series have existed in the US for years under the Spec Miata name. But now, a local series with CASC sanctioning provided a new opportunity for competitive, cost-effective racing.

Before the racing season was through, the Miata Canada Cup became the most popular road racing series in Canada. Between 20 to 24, race prepped Miatas competed in races, dwarfing the 8 to 10 cars racing in the Formula 1200 series, which Daniel Demaras competed in.
Growth and progress can’t be ignored. Therefore, after careful consideration, Demaras Racing has decided to leave Formula 1200 racing and go sports car racing instead.

Well respected teams like Mortimer Racing regularly bring 4 cars to the race track for Miata Canada Cup races, providing those new to the series an ‘arrive & drive‘ opportunity. More than just well-sorted race cars, the team provides driver training and data analysis to help racers improve.
Another option for Demaras Racing in 2025 would be to enter a car in the CASC GT4 or GT5 series. Cars commonly competing include BMW 328, Subaru BRZ and Porsche Boxster. The challenge would be not just acquiring a race car, but preparing and repairing the car while at the race track.

Regardless of the final decision. the biggest challenge Demaras Racing will face over the next six months will be leaving behind friends and rivals in the Canadian Formula 1200 series and trying to make a competitive run in a closed-wheel GT racing series this year.
Will it be Miata Canada Cup in a Miata race car or the CASC GT4 category in specially prepared Subaru WRX STi? Time and budget will tell.
To fund another season of racing, Demaras Racing is selling off our 1999 Mazda Miata track car. The ad is on AutoTrader to for all the details.

It’s been a great car and helped our driver Daniel Demaras step up from karts to cars and. But now we need to squeeze the juice out of that orange to buy a proper race car, and leave this Miata as a road-legal track day car for the next owner.
Great 😊
I’m up for anything Miata.
Considering the popularity of Spec Miata in the US, many people agree.
Nice post, Chris. Someone’s going to love your car. It looks like it is in mint condition!
Maybe it’s too early in the season. Snow on the ground, nobody is thinking about buying a convertible.
.
Hope it sells soon.
Best of luck in the new season. This Miata driver will be following along.
Thanks Mike. All we need now is a whole bunch of money to make this happen!
