After a freak spring snowstorm earlier in the week, the weather had warmed up and things were looking good. Local car club Dreams2Reality organized a car meet with OCS and Hazard_Hub. Instead of the west end, this meet was set for the suburbs.

At sunset, the temps hovered around 16°C and the pink and purple sunset looked so beautiful, you’d think it was Photoshopped.
Rolling into the strip mall in Aurora (north of Toronto) the sound of bass booming and exhaust growls could be heard from the street. The organizer asked for no shenanigans (no burnouts, two-steothat would get the meet shut down. After all, it’s not like anyone has a permit to be there.
Seems the issue is proximity to businesses. In the plaza there’s a couple of restaurants. And while police probably couldn’t car less about a bunch of people showing off their cars in the parking lot of an abandoned hardware store, people going out to eat might be intimidated by the gathering. The smart move would be to run an event in a spot where the businesses close early.

It wasn’t even 9PM when the entire police department (all 3 cruisers) arrived with their lights flashing. They started asking to see a permit (non-existent. Soon threats of trespassing and loitering charges made all in attendance abandon the spot immediately.

Seems it’s better to have a bunch of amped-up gearheads peacefully meeting in a parking lot than setting them loose on suburban streets. Undoubtedly, some will find a street race to compete in, or just blast down the boulevard. Authorities in Aurora should rethink their approach to relations to the car community.
Where have I been? I haven’t seen your posts for a few days! Glad to be catching up now.
I think you have a life and don’t have time for such juvenile silliness commonly found on demaras.com!
But Demaras.com is one of my favorite blogs! Fun place!
Well… that just made my day. Thanks!
Anytime, friend!
