It looks like something out of a Jackie Chan action movie.
A tow truck driver in Illinois pulled onto the shoulder to winch a stranded vehicle out of the ditch. Despite emergency lights flashing, an inattentive driver launched his van up and over the tow truck, by using the tilted flat bed as a ramp.
It’s only by the grace of God that tow truck driver Allen Timmerwilke wasn’t killed.
The TV news at First Alert 4 reported that the driver of the van was taken to the hospital and released without serious injuries. While the driver was wearing their seatbelt, suspected distracted driving thanks to cell phone use while driving is likely cause of this near-death experience.
Whoa!!
Crazy! Dude barrel rolled the company van. Good luck telling the boss that he swerved to avoid a moose or something. Dude’s goose is cooked!
LOL!
good grief! pay attention people!
I feel so bad for that tow truck driver, Susan. This must have scared the living daylights out of him, and I wonder if he’ll even want to work again. Must be so nervous that even his anxieties have anxieties now.
this story reminded me of a tow truck driver who lost his life in cincinnati. he was hit while helping a motorist on the side of the road. he was a very good friend of my friend. such a tragedy. https://local12.com/news/local/loved-ones-remember-tow-truck-driver-killed-anderson-township-i-275-crash-keith-skaggs-dead-fatal-collision-aaa-employee-member-vehicle-pickup-janaya-glover-richard-glasser-southland-baptist-church-cincinnati-ohio
That is tragic, my friend. Very dangerous line of work.
Amen!
The news seems to think the problem is tow trucks by the headline. We had a tow truck driver killed by a distracted driver a few years ago.
Not sure how it is in your corner of the world, but in Toronto, there’s been ‘wars’ between tow-truck companies for the past couple of years. Literally fire-bombing each others rigs (I suspect a criminal element may have infiltrated the industry).
.
So now that I think about your comment, maybe it makes sense that the news paints the tow truck drivers as the bad guys. That’s the way society views them.
We have a lot of problems with violence down here, but there have not been any tow truck wars that I know of. I was surprised that tow truck drivers would firebomb each other’s trucks. We rarely have firebombings down here. A crazed Democrat firebombed the Republican headquarters in Albuquerque, and the Tesla dealership in Rio Rancho a few months ago.
It’s strange that tow trucks have been a hot-spot in Toronto. There are huge companies in the area (CAA, Abrams Towing) which dominate the market but those independents are gonna kill each other over what’s left.
.
Firebombing a Tesla dealership, huh? Up here they only throw red paint at them.
