This weekend’s IndyCar race at Road America in Wisconsin was a scorcher. High temperatures pushed man and machine to the limit. AJ Foyt Racing’s driver Santino Ferrucci finished in third-place, his second podium in three races. Ferrucci’s strategy saw him run out of fuel just after the finish line, rather that making an extra pit stop.
Ferrucci parked his car at Turn 1, hopped out and asked the assembled crowd to throw him something to drink. While an airbourne water bottle exploded on impact with the asphalt, Ferrucci did manage to catch a can of beer tossed to him from a merciful race fan, and chugged it as the crowd cheered.
Viral moments like this can’t be scripted, and maybe ‘Miller Lite’ one of America’s top-selling light beers, should take the opportunity to step up and support this young driver!
Give him all the beer he wants … AFTER the race.
