With the race cars shaken-down on Friday and the initial races run, it was back on track for Race 2 & 3 on Saturday.

The DriveTeq No. 822 finished second in the opening 4 hour race of the event, but Saturday’s contests were split into two 3½ hour long races, with two drivers each doing a maximum 1h 45min shift. Drivers Ron and Dave piloted the No. 822 to victory in GT2 in the morning race. In the afternoon it would be Anthny and Daniel.

In the afternoon race, Demaras drove the first stint, taking the green flag and making up ground off the start. The leader went through the grass runoff in Turn 5, rejoining right in front of the No. 822, leading to a near collision, but by the end of the lap Daniel had settled in, leading the GT2 category.

As the race progressed, Daniel steadily and consistently hit lap times just north of the minimum lap time, keeping a metronomic pace that helped extend the gap behind. Soon, the No. 822 was putting its rivals a lap down.

The DriveTeq machine remained in perfect working condition while the grid began to thin out as the attrition from endurance racing began to set in, and Daniel ended his shift with a 3-lap lead over second place.

DriveTeq rookie teammate Anthony took over and maintained the advantage throughout his stint, until a flat tire late in the race threatened to undo three hours of hard work. Thanks to a big lead, and swift work from the crew, the No. 822 got back on track 30 seconds ahead of the next competitor, and came home for the GT2 victory.

This result made it two victories in two race weekends for Daniel and the No. 822 DriveTeq BMW race car. As the sun set of the day, the team reflected on a race perfect day at the race track.

EDITOR’S NOTE: Although this post was published in October, videos of the entire race (Demaras’ stint) have become available. The start is just incredible as Daniel passes multiple classes and takes over the lead in class. Enojy!
