Toronto has grown rapidly over the past decade. The population of the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) has increased by 624,000 people since 2015, and the main driver of the growth has been non-permanent residents (NPRs) which include international students and temporary foreign workers. Some unscrupulous driving schools now ‘serve’ the newcomer community by getting bad drivers an Ontario license for $2,000 cash.
Dashcam video of one of these “drivers” was released to the media by Toronto Police and it’s just terrifying that this kind of driving standard has become common in Toronto.
So many down in New England going the wrong way 🙁
I just can’t believe that unscrupulous people are selling DLs in my home town, Eunice. Yet driving around Toronto, this fact has become obvious.
.
I guess the biggest problem y’all must face is people driving on the wrong side of the road. If I was from Olde England and I visited, that’s what I would assume too.
Yes folks with no skills for our roads and speeds of 80-120mph daily out there it is not good if you can’t read 🙁
I’ve seen some terrible driving, but I’ve never faced that horror before! Yikes!
Dude, you think that’s bad? We had some “newly licensed driver” with a steel staircase attached to their car. I cannot even describe it… just look at the pic.

I know it’s wrong, but I find that funny.
Darkly, darkly funny.
Where do they get the idea stuff like this is OK???
The real question is WHY is no government authority stepping in a putting a stop to illegal DL scams. It’s common knowledge in Toronto, and wouldn’t take more than a ‘mystery shopper’ to bust these guys.
You get what you vote for?
Perhaps. But in the interests of public safety, even the government we have should step in and fix the problem. I’m just flabbergasted that nothing is being done about untrained, unskilled drivers wreaking havoc on Ontario roads.
.
The government was quick to install speed cameras to pick everyone’s pocket for the slightest transgression. But to actually do something that counts… no action.
It’s irritating as hell. There seems to be an epidemic of governments not dealing with crime. I’m starting to see that change, which is a positive, but it’s slow and not universal…
